Christmas is around the corner. Dewan VS Institute of Hotel Management hosted an age-old traditional "Cake Mixing Ceremony."
It is a lovely activity where the budding chefs of the department not only make preparations for cake-making but also spread positive spirit. The event was graced by the presence of our Executive Director Sir, and the other directors of departments of the institution.
Chef Ashish Spencer, HOD of DVSIHM, briefed the students about this age-old tradition where kilogrammes of dry fruits, nuts, grains and spices are combined together to form a mixture. This mixture is then soaked in alcoholic blends for some days to absorb all the flavours and aromas. Lastly, it is divided into parts that go into the cake batter, from which further Christmas fruit cakes are baked.
